Slow Dancing Synchronicities
I don't know about you, but I fully subscribe to the idea of synchronicities. This inexplicable feeling of right place, right time; meant to be; paths crossing for a purpose.
Allow me to introduce you to Sydney & Chris. Back in July, I had the opportunity to catch their proposal on camera and let me tell you, every part of it was perfect. At their annual 4th of July block party, Chris had the most beautiful proposal planned for Sydney, surrounded by their family & friends. I knew that when their song, "Better Together" by Luke Combs played, that was my signal to get ready for the big moment. Most everyone in attendance knew what was planned for Sydney that day. As he queued up the song on the bluetooth speaker next to me, Chris whispered, "are you ready?"
We all watched as Chris held out his hand for Sydney, and they started slow dancing just as they always do for their song. Chris sang along softly with the music, and once the lyrics "If I'm being honest, your first and my last name would just sound better together" played, Chris dropped down to one knee and asked Sydney to marry him. I still get chills remembering how perfect the moment was. (Spoiler alert: She said yes!)
Fast forward to their engagement session a month later. Leading up to every session, I always ask my couples a variety of questions to help me get to know them better and provided them with the most memorable session. As part of the signature Red Sage experience, I typically play music during the session. It helps couples relax, and forget that a camera is pointed at them like paparazzi. So when I asked Sydney & Chris what activities they enjoy together, and they answered "slow dancing around our kitchen", instantly I fell in love with them (its important to note here: I say that about every single couple, so as you're reading this, know that I will 1000% say this about you and your bae too!)
Syd & Chris arrived for their session at Coppersea Distillery and I knew it was going to be magical. The lighting, Syd's dress, the way Chris looked at Syd like he won the lottery. It was perfect. I hit shuffle on my couples playlist, just as I always do when a session begins and asked the two of them to face each other while I checked my camera settings.
Do I even need to tell you what song played first? I'll give you a hint: it has to do with synchronicities. As the first few chords of Luke Combs "Better Together" played out of my bluetooth speaker, we gushed over how fitting it was for their song to be the first song of the playlist. Without missing a beat, they pulled each other in close and began slow dancing. The same way they did when Chris proposed. The same way I know they will for years to come.
The love these two share for one another is so beautiful and effortless. As expected, the rest of their session was in fact magical. Breathtaking even. Full of synchronicity. And in the most non-creepy way, I could have watched them slow dance in that field all night.
